Hey y'all,

As a Christian I've come to realise the importance of being mindful of what music I listen to. This is because the kind of music you listen to can greatly influence your mood and beliefs, crazy right? Like who knew music could be so powerful? Think about it, whenever you've been in a bad or good mood, what's the first thing a lot of us tend to do? Yes that's right listen to music.

Think of music as food for your mind; if you listen to negative music or music that is contrary to what God stands for then you're more likely to live an unhealthy lifestyle i.e. a life without God. However, if you listen to positive or Gospel music, you're feeding your mind with truth and when your mind is filled with the Truth of God there is no space for the devil's lies in your mind. A lot of the bad thoughts that human beings have, a majority of the time comes from the kinds of music we listen to. Take drill music for instance, drill music is all about promoting crime, sex, murder, gang lifestyle, basically all kinds of unGodly activities. Due to the fact these sinful activities are glamorised in drill music, listening to this genre of music will not only desensitise you but will also inevitably convince you to accept things that are displeasing to God.

I've always loved music and I cannot lie growing up, music greatly influenced my perspective on love, friendship, what it means to be successful and what it means to be happy. Back then I claimed the title of a Christian but the way I lived and the kinds of music I listened to was far from God. I recall being angry a lot of the time in high school and I would bang out violent and aggressive songs from artists like Lil Wayne, Meek Mill. Eminem etc. And trust me when I tell you these songs did nothing for me other than make me feel more angry and vengeful.

Fast forward after really committing myself to Jesus Christ (JC), the Lord began to work wonders in my heart and life, and whenever I would listen to music that was contrary to the way of the Lord I would feel the Holy Spirit (HS) convicting me. I would find myself not being able to enjoy worldly music like I used to and that's when the Lord put it in my heart to seek out Gospel music. Discovering the genre of Gospel music really changed my life, it introduced me to a new way of worshipping Jehovah. I personally feel that Gospel music helps you to connect to God in way that you can't connect to Him with prayer or fasting. It feeds truth and peace into your soul and mind! I'm not saying that you shouldn't listen to secular music, but be mindful and always ask yourself whether what you are listening to or about to listen to promotes Godliness or antiGodliness. Don't forget that this journey of life we are all experiencing is a daily battle between Good and evil, and its up to you to choose which side you are on.

But anyways I'm about to put you guys on some songs you NEED in your life. Don't forget to thank me later... scrap that, thank God now and later!

FYI to make things easier, I've divided my playlist into categories. So whatever category relates to you or whatever mood you're in you'll be a able to find a song to jam to.
